Patient Triage Pilot

Patients will be aware that we have been using Accurx Patient Triage for quite some time for patients wishing to request a GP appointment. Whilst not perfect, the system has freed up many more GP appointments and also allowed the surgery to increase the length of GP appointments by 50%.

More details about our appointment system can be found here.

As of 03/07/2025, we are piloting some new functionality to the triage system for adults only (medical requests for children are not part of this pilot). The new functionality is referred to as Digital Front Door.

If several services might be able to help you with the health problem you have described on the triage form, you will see some information about these services and how you can access them. Depending on the symptoms or condition described, there’s a section where you can check if you need more urgent help.

For example, if you are looking for help with a sore throat, you will be given information on how to find a pharmacy that can offer treatment and advice. This page also signposts to NHS online advice.

I still want to contact my GP
If these options aren’t suitable and you still want to contact your GP, you can do this by clicking the ‘Contact GP’ button.

Why am I seeing information about other services?
There are several services that can provide advice and care for certain conditions that patients can access themselves without needing to see a GP. Using these services doesn’t require a GP appointment and may be easier and quicker to access.

This is at this stage a pilot (trial) of the new functionality. If you have feedback about the new functionality for Accurx, the company that builds the software, please submit it here.
