Living with a long-term condition can bring challenges. It is vital for patients to know that as well as medical support from NHS services, there is non-medical support from other local organisations both within Enfield and nationally.
Physical exercise can often help patients to better control the symptoms of their condition and we have already publicised free exercising support available via UCAN Enfield.
Diabetes
Patients with a diagnosis of diabetes can access support from the Enfield Diabetes Support Group. They provide support, advice & information on managing your diabetes as well as inviting specialist speakers covering all aspects of diabetes care.
For more information meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month starting at 7.30pm at Chase Farm Hospital, The Ridgeway, Enfield, EN2 8JL.

Hypertension
High blood pressure, known medically as hypertension, can be a silent killer. It can cause organ damage, strokes or even death, which is why it is important to ensure it is controlled. In addition to taking medication as advised by our practice medical team, lifestyle changes can help to control high blood pressure. Patients registered with the practice can access our Primary Care Network’s (PCN) Healthy Lifestyle Service, whose advisors can support you to eat healthier and lead a more active lifestyle. To access this service please speak to our reception team.
Furthermore, there are additional free exercise classes provided via UCAN Enfield as well Active Enfield and Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.
You will also find online support from Blood Pressure UK, which is a national patient-focussed charity dedicated to lowering the nations blood pressure to prevent stroke, heart and kidney disease.
Mental Health
By the very nature of mental health conditions, it can unfortunately make patients feel isolated. However, it is important for patients to be aware that there are numerous support groups available supported by the North London Foundation Trust, the organisation that runs mental health services in the five boroughs of North Central London.
