We are committed to supporting patients and carers at every stage of the cancer journey — from diagnosis, through treatment, and when living with and beyond cancer.
If you are diagnosed with cancer, we will contact you to offer an early conversation about how you are coping and what support you may need. This usually takes place within the first few months of diagnosis and can include a family member or carer if you wish. We want to understand what matters most to you and make sure you know how we can help.
We can also offer a Cancer Care Review, usually within the first year after diagnosis. This is a dedicated appointment with a member of our practice team to talk about your physical health, emotional wellbeing, practical concerns, and any questions you may have. We can work with you to identify any ongoing needs and, where appropriate, connect you to local services, community support, or national charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support.
We recognise that the end of hospital treatment can be a difficult and uncertain time. Our practice remains here for you, whether you have new symptoms, concerns about side effects, or need support with everyday issues such as work, finances, or emotional wellbeing.
You and your carers can contact us at any point. We will listen, take your concerns seriously, and do our best to support you throughout your cancer journey.
If you feel that the practice has not met your expectations in terms of our commitments in this statement, please ask to speak to our Practice Manager and we will be happy to engage with your feedback to improve our services.
